Season Notes

Welcome to the 2009 season! We will post notes to members regarding housekeeping details and events on this page. Keeping current emails can be a challenge, so we decided to communicate as much as possible on the web site.

2009 Season News

June 11th    Welcome to the beginning of our 2009 produce season. There is only one newsletter per share this season, the newsletter will be posted on our website, www.earthdancefarm.net, each Wednesday night. We have some members that are just doing electronic newsletter, please let me know if you or your group would prefer to do electronic access and skip the paper copy. The first delivery will be on Thur. June 18th. My route will begin around 9:30 in Merriam Park in St Paul. I will move through Como, and St. Anthony Park in St. Paul and then to Mpls. from 11 to 2 or so beginning at 94 and coming south along the western side, Edina, then along the south and back north east of 35W. I will then take 38th east toward Hiawatha and Minnehaha before driving back into St Paul. Between 2 and 4 I will drop in Highland Park, the Downtown area and end up in Mendota Heights. Rochester will be the final drop in the neighborhood of 5:30. This will hopefully give you an idea of when you will receive your share box. Once we have a week or two under our belt it will be more routine. Feel free to contact me if you have any particular concerns or a specific location for me to place the box/boxes at your home. Drops should be in the shade and out of the rain. I hope that you have all met, or at least know of, your host if you are part of a group pick-up. Hosts please make contact with all the members of your group if you have not already done so. This is a good time to make sure everyone knows the when and where and how of the delivery and pick-up process. It is important that all boxes are carefully broken down and placed visibly (along with the ice packs) for me to pick up on the following delivery. A tear in the tabs or handles of the boxes seriously hinders their use. Please take time to understand how the box is broken down. If anyone has not paid in full by this time please do so. Housekeeping items: 1. Deliveries on Thursdays 2. Carefully break down boxes 3. Leave flattened boxes and ice packs on premise for next week's pick-up 4. Weekly produce list on website Monday eve before delivery 5. Check website for any information 6. Email or call as needed 7. I can use any clean egg cartons or clean paper grocery bags 8. One newsletter per share - Newsleter on website Wed. night If you are splitting a membership with someone else, you will be getting just one box and you will need to work out how to split the produce between the partners. I am looking forward to the deliveries. I hope to see many familiar faces and meeting many of you who are with us for the first season.

May 18th, 2009    The interns, Tom from Macalester College and Kaitlyn from the Rochester area, arrived yesterday and started their first day of work today. We are very excited to have them. A third intern, Ellie, also from Macalester College, will be joining us June 1st. We have lots of plants that are ready to go so it will be a busy week with all hands in the dirt.

January 24th, 2009    We are busy working on updating membership forms, web site, etc. for the 2009 season. We will be sending out membership renewal forms by the end of the month and forms for new members will be available by that time as well. Stay tuned for more info!
